The name of Bloch Design is credited for the lavish restoration of the hotel de Noailles directed by Philippe Starck at the request of the Maison Baccarat. Enter the paved threshold that leads to the palace of mirrors of 3000m2 where Luis Bunuel, Salvador Dali, Jean Cocteau, Man Ray mingled among many other regulars at parties organized by Marie-Laure de Noailles … and now you only see them! Two stunning fireplaces covered by beveled mirrors, like the set with red Baccarat mirrors under an arm carrying a crystal ball, like in the castle of the Beauty and the Beast by Jean Cocteau.
“The layout of the premises led me to design and craft two metal fireplaces with the inner part in stainless steel: they function on gas with a underground vent system, given the absence of flues,” says Jean-Francis Bloch called to join eighteen of the “Meilleur Ouvrier de France” (Best Craftsmen of France) gathered by Philippe Starck.
The two Philippe Starck fireplaces can be seen at the Hotel de Noailles, 11 place des États-Unis, 75116 Paris, France. The Baccarat Museum is open from 10:00 to 18:00 everyday except Sundays, Tuesdays and holidays but the Cristal Room Restaurant is open everyday except Sundays and until 22:00 so you will be able to see these unique Philippe Starck fireplaces anytime you wish!
